With the federal budget coming this week, Canadians may learn about the future of Canada’s foreign buyer ban on housing. The measure, which is set to expire at the end of 2026, is popular with Canadians, but as currently designed, is doing more harm than good. The government would do well to amend it to exempt pre-construction and new housing, or allow it to expire entirely.
